Fuel Efficiency
Hey, guys. Please send a message that says something like this to the White House and your representatives: "The next car I buy will get at least 40 miles per gallon. Will I be able to buy an American car?" comments@whitehouse.gov vice_president@whitehouse.gov http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm http://www.house.gov/writerep/ Also, it would be good to send something like this to American car manufacturers: "The next car I buy will get at least 40 miles per gallon. Will I be able to buy it from your company?" This issue will affect the globe ecologically, but the time has come that the United States could be hit economically. If we don't get on top of this, the market for US-made cars will suffer, both at home and abroad. We did it with DDT. We did it with aerosol cans. Surely, this we can handle. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." -Margaret Meade Current Mood: empowered | | Thursday, June 22nd, 2006 | | 10:32 am |
A Simple Congrats...
... to all my ex-HHS-2006-Seniors. You guys rock my world. I'm proud, but not because you all graduated. Honestly, you're too smart not to have. ^^ I'm sorry I missed it, though. Apparently, there was a speech that surpassed our valedictorian speech (wow, was that expected?) ^.^ But really, guys. Congrats. I hope you're feeling good about yourselves, because you deserve to. I can't wait to see where your lives lead you. ^_^ Current Mood: happy | | Tuesday, May 16th, 2006 | | 10:47 pm |
Big End-of-the-Year Yay!
Honors Seminar: Great Books and Ideas II - A! Honors Seminar in Contemporary Civilization - A! Design/Foundations of Visual Organization II, 3D - A! Art History, Western Civilization: Ancient & Medieval - A! Italian I - A! That makes my gpa a 3.890! AND NOW, it's time for a nice break. I'll be able to draw for my own enjoyment! Read a good fiction book! Maybe flesh out one of those comics I've been planning forever. I am excited. I'm working at Mathematica again, data entry until the next editor training goes down. As of now, I'm working Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 9-5. Might take on more, or spread the hours out, depending on how I'm handling them. It'd be good to give myself free time to develop the portfolio. I'll be applying for the Illustration BFA next fall/spring, so it's time to get crackalakin'. (Is that how you spell it? Does it matter how you spell it?) ALSO, I'd really like to get together with you guys some time. It'd be cool to hit up the SlowDown, or the 'Cana, perhaps. Let me know if you're interested. ^^ I just want to thank those of you who actually read these sporadic updates of mine. They're kinda self-centered and few-and-far-between lately, but I like sharing my good times with those of you who care. I really appreciate all of you. Thanks for being here. ^_^ Current Mood: relaxed | | Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006 | | 1:27 pm |

HAPPY SPRING TIME
Hope it warms up again quickly. YAY FOR SPRING! Got an A on my Art History midterm! Yay for studying properly! Spring break was enjoyable, if not long enough - looking forward to seeing more people over summer break. Gonna try to get a job at Mathematica again this summer. If I do, I'll have a pretty flexible schedule. Yay for time off. Doing some pretty cool stuff in Fundamentals of 3D Design, even if playing around with chicken wire for the assemblage project left me with scars. Next up: carving! Should be fun. ^^ Yay for not cutting myself with a whittling knife. ^^; Expecting a ddr pad in the mail. It'll be sexy, provided this one works. ^^; Yay for eBay. Yay for nice sellers. Yay for delaying Italian work! Oh, yeah; I'm taking Italian! Yay for sexiness! Um... What else.... You fit in with: Humanism
Your ideals mostly resemble that of a Humanist. Although you do not have a lot of faith, you are devoted to making this world better, in the short time that you have to live. Humanists do not generally believe in an afterlife, and therefore, are committed to making the world a better place for themselves and future generations.

I'm home
Yes, I have battled through museums, gallery shows, term papers, midterms and drawings, paintings and collages, and have made my way victoriously home. Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow promises to be fucking awesome. Yay for pumkin pie, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn muffins, gravy, and 25 bloody pounds of turkey!!! Definitely going to rock my socks. Happy Thanksgiving to all! Friday will be chillaxing with Matt (Blade Runner, woot woot!) and hopefully the Santa Parade in the evening. I'd really like to see you guys. Maybe we could hit up Slowdown, catch the new Harry Potter movie, or just chillax with a viddy game some time this weekend. Lemme know if you're interested. ^^ Current Mood: chillaxin'Current Music: the Amadeus soundtrack | | Monday, August 1st, 2005 | | 2:41 am |

I'm writing to ask you to join me in signing a MoveOn PAC petition demanding real answers from President Bush regarding the "smoking gun" Downing Street Memo. To help get the truth about why we invaded Iraq, please sign this letter today. http://www.moveonpac.org/tellthetruth/The Downing Street memo is called a "smoking gun" because it contains the minutes from a British cabinet meeting in July of 2002, 6 months before the war began. During that meeting high ranking British officials reported that the Bush administration admitted it was already determined to invade Iraq, and was "fixing" intelligence about WMD's to justify the war. This, of course, contradicts everything President Bush has told us about how he chose war as a last resort, and made that decision because he thought he had solid intelligence about the Iraqi WMD threat. Bush has refused to even respond to the memo, but after Tony Blair's visit the pressure is really building. Representative John Conyers of Michigan is gathering 500,000 signatures and comments from American voters to take directly to President Bush at the White House gates and demand real answers. Please sign today and help get out the truth. http://www.moveonpac.org/tellthetruth/Thanks! Q: How many Bush Administration officials does it take to change a light bulb? A: None. There is nothing wrong with the light bulb; its condition is improving every day. Any reports of its lack of incandescence are illusional spin from the liberal media. Illuminating rooms is hard work. That light bulb has served honorably, and anything you say undermines the lighting effort. Why do you hate freedom? Hi! I just signed MoveOn PAC's emergency petition to stop the "nuclear option" the far right wing's plan to seize absolute power to stack our courts -– and I hope you will sign too. Starting Monday, the petition will be delivered straight to Congress every three hours until the final vote, and many of our comments will be read aloud on the Senate floor. Please sign right now at: http://www.moveonpac.org/nuclearWhy is this an emergency? This Tuesday, the Senate will vote on Republican Leader Bill Frist's "nuclear option" to break the rules of the Senate and give the Republican Party absolute control over appointing federal judges. For 200 years the minority's right to filibuster has kept our courts fair, by making sure that federal judges needed to get at least some support from both sides of the aisle before they were given life time appointments. If Frist eliminates the filibuster, his next step would be to force far right partisan judges onto the powerful U.S. Courts of Appeals. The real targets, however, are the four seats on the Supreme Court likely to become vacant in the next four years. With that much power on the Supreme Court, the far right could strike down decades of progress on labor rights, environmental protections, reproductive rights, and privacy. The "nuclear option" will live or die by a final vote, probably on Tuesday, and the vote is still way too close to call. There are at least 6 moderate Republicans still on the fence and only 3 more votes needed to win. If we can get enough of our voices into congress and into the streets in the next 72 hours, we can still save our courts. Please take a minute to join me and sign the emergency petition today. http://www.moveonpac.org/nuclearThanks! Current Mood: determined and a bit pissed | | Tuesday, May 17th, 2005 | | 3:52 pm |

Wow, I have a Live Journal. It's been so long I almost forgot. And so does Lee! Welcome to the band wagon! ^_~ I've been busy a lot lately - been caught up in fun and housing applications and whatnot. I've decided to go to Montclair - it would be stupid not to take advantage of the opportunities they're offering me. Thanks to everyone for your input - it really helped. ^_^ Going to Washington D.C. yesterday was fun. Malcom (a new friend) wore a "George W. Bush - Not My President" t-shirt - I wish I had thought to borrow your "I still hate George Bush" tee, Lissa. =p We spent most of our time in the National Gallery, which I appreciated, but I must say, walking through the early Renaissance works I saw more baby Jesus penii than I ever intended. It's amazing how religious early art is. I suppose it's all just appealing to the man with the money - at the time, the Church and the nobles were really the only ones with money to comission artists, and all nobles wanted were portraits of themselves and their kids (and even their dogs... I saw the most realistic picture of a poodle...) The one-acts on Thursday were good - congrats to everyone involved. The Americana afterwards was fun as well - folding napkins into interesting shapes with Mr. Spack was an unexpected amusement. Fun stuff all around. Oh! And check out the Guerilla Girls. Lee introduced me to them, and they're interesting (good for laughs, if you've a liberal tendency): http://www.guerrillagirls.com/<3 as always, Jen Current Mood: happyCurrent Music: Random Massive Attack beats |
